Wednesday Alternative Artist Discovery #Happens

November 6th, 2024

Happy Wednesday! Your Happens.vip Alternative Artist Discovery Of The Week is The Linda Lindas. “In our band, we all sing and we take turns with lead vocals, so my sister is the drummer as well as a singer,” says Lucia. “People might be surprised that me and my sister are actually two different singers. Our voices sound pretty similar but we write different types of songs, and it’s funny how people that have really tried to learn about the band often get me and my sister confused when it comes to our singing.” Thanks to Edie Lundeen from Epitaph Records for VIP Access.

Coldplay “ALL MY LOVE” is #1 Most Added this week on the Mediabase Alternative Add Board with Audacy showing big love before the new single officially ships to Alternative Radio. Congrats to Greg Dorfman & the Atlantic team!

Tough week for our friends at iHeart. Stunned to hear Mike Kaplan at WRFF (ALT 104.5)/Philly got caught up in the iHeart downsizing happening this week. Karah Leigh is also out after almost 20 years at KTBZ (94.5 The Buzz)/Houston. Get the scoop in Alternative News and reach out to these good people. It’s tough out there and we’re all in this together. I heard The Woody Show asking listeners this morning about how they reinvented themselves with work.

Tunde Adebimpe (lead singer of TV On The Radio) released his new solo single “Magnetic” last week. It’s from his debut solo album coming via Sub Pop Records in 2025. The video is featured below on the #Happens ALT Video Spotlight Of The Week!

Megan Holiday from KROQ/Los Angeles shares a photo with Bishop Briggs. Take a look at the smiles on the Alternative Photos page.

Dustin Carlson from KDKB (ALT AZ 93.3)/Phoenix says they just added Weathers and Culture Wars to its Ugly Sweater Holiday Party night #1 with Royel Otis on December 10th at the Marquee Theatre.

Amy Presley from KACV/Amarillo has a message for record peeps: if you are cleaning out your promotion closet the station would be grateful for posters, LPs, t-shirts, etc. to pass along to our listeners for a Stocking Stuffer Giveaway on December 6th.
