Ax And The Hatchetmen Release New EP, Constant Change

July 18th, 2025

Chicago’s Ax And The Hatchetmen released their new EP, Constant Change, on July 18th via Arista Records. The 5-track EP was brought to life by producer Jake Sinclair (Panic! At The Disco, Weezer, Avril Lavigne), who not only connected the group with their hero Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes for their lead single “Blurry Lights,” but also helped source a long-lost Rivers Cuomo demo for the backbone of “7×9.” Ax And The Hatchetmen take you to school on the music video for “7×9,” watch it HERE.

The pure fun, incorporates Beach Boy-style harmonies, a nod to Weezer’s Blue Album era, and the band’s signature brightly driving sound. On the chorus, guitarist/singer Axel Ellis says: “Seven times nine is 63, she is dressed up so sexily / I don’t know much but I think it’s true, I want to spend my life making love to you.”

Axel says, “Everything’s so stressful these days. It’s our goal to do something that takes you out of the chaos of life for a few minutes and gives you a break from your day. I feel like that’s so important — that’s why I love music. It takes me away from the daily stress and leaves me inspired.”

Ax And The Hatchetmen are out with Fitz and The Tantrums from July 24th in San Diego through August 11th in Cleveland. Find the tour dates HERE
