Australia 4-piece Teenage Dads released “Boyfriend” on July 30th. It’s from their sophomore album, Majordomo, set for release on August 23rd. The band says, “‘Boyfriend’ is a triumphant song about seizing the day and not worrying about what everyone else is saying and doing. You’ve come to terms with what you can’t control and you’re finally opening your lungs and singing.” The video is directed by the band’s drummer Vincent Kinna. “The ‘Boyfriend’ video formed in combination with the lyrics, themes and the feelings I felt when listening to the song; wholesomeness, vulnerability, melancholy and things like that,” Vin explains on the inspiration for the video. “A relationship story felt right but I wanted something more innocent and unique, and that’s how we ended up with a boy and his living TV best friend. The sad ending serves as a poignant reminder that there aren’t always happy endings in life so we need to seize the day and enjoy the ride. Scrambling for locations, we ended up filming it in my old room. I wish it looked as cool as it does in the video!” Teenage Dads won the 2023 ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year. The Mornington Peninsula band will play US tour dates with Dayglow beginning October 31st in Tulsa. Find the tour dates HERE.
