Salt Lake City’s The Kilans released “Why Is It Light Out?” on May 15th. The indie rock quartet blend modern and classic influences with introspective lyrics helping build their loyal following and got them featured on numerous Spotify playlists. The Kilans lead singer Jack Ongman says, I wrote it the summer before we started the band in 2023. The song is about feeling isolated, exhausted, ignored, and insomnia. The song has taken a life of its own since we released it and we’re really pleased to hear so many people resonating with it.” The band’s debut EP, In Transit, was released April 2nd.
