SummitMedia debuts Alternative on WBPT-HD2 (X100.1)/Birmingham under SVP/Programming John Olsen.

The market had a long history of Alternative format with WRAX “The X” beginning in 1996.

Olsen said, “X100.1 will be aggressive about supporting new Alternative music and bonding our brand to Alternative artists. We’d love to have liners from artists supporting the station, but also talking about their music.

“We’ll also be introducing Birmingham to X-Takeovers, where artists take over an hour of the station to play their music and music that inspires and inspired them as musicians.”
