This Week’s New Music Discovery

Cage The Elephant “Neon Pill” (RCA)

Bowling Green, KY’s Cage The Elephant released their highly-anticipated new single “Neon Pill” on January 19th via RCA. It’s from the band’s upcoming sixth album. It’s the first new music from Cage The Elephant since their Grammy Award winning 2019 album, Social Cues. Cage The Elephant is set to perform at Bonnaroo and Hangout Festival.

Mumford & Sons x Pharrell Williams “Good People” (Glassnote)

The first new music from Mumford & Sons in five years. The “Good People” collaboration was recorded and produced with Pharrell Williams in New York and Paris. The song debuted live on January 16th at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week Show. Mumford & Sons and Pharrell began their friendship over 10 years ago while touring festivals, and had always talked privately about making music together. Last summer, with the band back out on the road headlining a string of global festival shows, they reconnected at Pharrell’s Something In The Water Festival in Virginia Beach.

KNOX “Not The 1975” (Atlantic)

Nashville-based singer-songwriter KNOX single “Not The 1975” is from his second EP, I’m So Good At Being Alone? released October 6, 2023. Growing up in Ohio, KNOX’s whole existence before he ever wrote a song was basketball, sound tracked by artists such as Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, All-American Rejects, and Ed Sheeran. The summer before he started at Ohio University, KNOX finally picked up a guitar. He learned everything in a few months, through YouTube videos. He built a fanbase from his debut EP released in February 2023 by filming TikToks featuring his song “Sneakers”. KNOX is heading out on a headline tour starting January 30th.

ALEXSUCKS “What’re We Doing Here” (Stairs/Hallwood Media)

L.A.’s ALEXSUCKS second single “What’re We Doing Here” is from the band’s forthcoming album (produced by Brendan O’Brien) due out in May. It’s the follow up single to “6 Pack & Cigarettes.” ALEXSUCKS is on tour now with EKKSTACY and will be playing at BottleRock Festival in May.
