Wednesday New Artist Discovery #Happens

March 20th, 2024

Happy Wednesday! Welcome to Spring! Your Happens.vip Alternative New Artist Discovery Of The Week is Cincinnati’s Michael Marcagi. His new single “Scared To Start” is really starting to take off. It’s now inside the Top 30 on the Alternative chart and today you get VIP Access to find out more about the Ohio artist.

Ratings have sprung at several Alternative stations in the latest Nielsen February ‘24 PPM 6+ Ratings. KROQ/Los Angeles had its best ratings in almost 6 years, posting up 2.2-2.8. KROQ SVP/Programming Kevin Weathery said, “These are the highest ratings for KROQ since September 2018.  It’s been a slow and steady climb back. The highlight continues to be the growth of the Klein.Ally.Show!  Excluding the holiday book, they have been #1 18-34 Adults the last three books.”

Great to see another legendary Alternative station 91X/San Diego have a great month, soaring 1.7-3.2. PD Garett Michaels said, “Being patient is hard, but we’re finally seeing the ratings we thought we would get when we made our change in direction, it’s been exactly two years to the month. It’s taken Nielsen that long to finally track what we’ve been feeling and hearing from our listeners all along.”  91X is #2 Persons 18-34 and #4 Men 25-54.

Other highlights on the Alternative Ratings Scorecard include: WKQX (Q101)/Chicago 2.1-2.2, KITS (Live 105)/San Francisco 3.1-3.2, WNNX (99X)/Atlanta 3.7-4.1, KTBZ (94.5 The Buzz)/Houston 4.9-5.1, WWDC (DC101)/Washington 3.5-3.7 (Director/Rock Programming Dustin Matthews notes, ”Amazing month with Elliot In The Morning #1 P18-49 and #2 P25-54! Also, he continues to be #1 Men in both demos!”), WDZH (ALT 98.7)/Detroit 3.2-3.7, KBZT (ALT 94.9)/San Diego 2.2-2.3, KTCL (Channel 93.3)/Denver 5.0-5.5, and KPNT (105.7 The Point)/St. Louis leaps 6.5-7.4 (OM/PD Tommy Mattern checks in from spring break to report: “The Point was number one with Men and Persons 18-34, 18-49, 25-54).”

Bob Divney shared a mind-blowing live performance of The Driver Era “Get Off My Phone” from Buenos Aires last Thursday (3/14). You may want to get off your phone and check out this incredible clip HERE. What a moment, right! The Driver Era is now available on Happens.vip Alternative Downloads.
