Corus/Calgary launched Classic Alternative on CFGQ as “107.3 The Edge” on July 31st under Regional PD Greg Johnson. The station was previously simulcasting News/Talk CHQR-AM.

107.3 The Edge is a blend of the best alternative music from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The station will play 30 years of hits from artists such as the Foo Fighters, Tears For Fears, Green Day, Florence and the Machine, U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Talking Heads, The Cure, David Bowie, The Killers, Blondie, Stone Temple Pilots and more.

“We’re excited to launch this one-of-a kind, unrivaled format,” said Johnson. “Iconic Alternative captures three decades of music that has been a formative soundtrack for adults in Calgary. It’s the iconic Edge brand, built specifically for Calgary.”

Canada’s “Icon of Alternative” Alan Cross will be on Sunday evenings with his “The Ongoing History of New Music” show.
