Alternative New Music Friday #Happens

August 16th, 2024

TGIF! Alternative New Music Friday #Happens with new albums out today from Falling In Reverse, Father John Misty, and Foster The People. Yes, all 3 start with the letter “F.” Isn’t that ironic? It’s certainly been one F’n week.

Still shocked about the heartbreaking news on the sudden passing of Ian McCain from WLUM (FM 102/1)/Milwaukee. Michelle Rutkowski has a special on-air tribute show planned for today at 2p (CT). The station is collecting favorite memories of Ian for the tribute. Please share them HERE. You can tune in HERE. Get more details in Alternative News.

The Lumineers will release Live From Wrigley Field next month. The last text I got from Ian McCain was the day before he was headed to Wrigley Field to see his favorite team the Chicago Cubs. How crazy is that! Back to The Lumineers, you can find a new live version “Gale Song (Feat. James Bay)” and more info on the new collection in Alternative Music Info.

Did you see Foster The People perform “Lost In Space” on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon the other night? Watch it HERE. The band’s new album, Paradise State Of Mind was released today.

Jared Leto from Thirty Seconds To Mars is throwing out the first pitch tonight at Citi Field before the Marlins vs Mets game. Thirty Seconds To Mars is playing Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY tomorrow (8/17). Check out the promo HERE.

Jack “Mr. Cleveland” Springer has a rare photo to share of a AWOLNATION Diamond Record for the band’s megahit very first single “Sail” that was signed at the Cleveland show Check out the AWOLNATION – Phantom Five Chronicles in Cleveland on Alternative Photos.

New Music this week from beabadoobee. You can find the latest new music to listen & download on Happens.vip Alternative Downloads page.

beabadoobee “Beaches” (Dirty Hit)

Listen & Download HERE.

UK’s beabadoobee released her new single “Beaches” on August 12th. It’s from her third studio album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves (produced by Rick Rubin) released last Friday 8/9 via Dirty Hit. Her new album is a celebration of self-belief and a newfound confidence while recording at Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu. “I was just going to put my feet in,” Bea reminisces about her first time jumping into the water in Malibu. “But then everyone was like, ‘Why wouldn’t you just put your whole body in? Jump in!’. And that became such an encapsulation of this whole recording opportunity – don’t do it half-arsed, just go fucking full-force!” She is playing at London’s All Points East Festival, Leeds Festival, and Reading Festival before “This Is How Tomorrow Moves Tour” kicks off in U.S. on September 8th in Philadelphia. Find the tour dates HERE.
