1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how the band got started.
Hello, I’m Cameron Boyer, singer of Weathers. Brennen and I started playing music together in high school. I started my first band at 13 years old and soon after meeting Brennen. We got a few other guys to play with us and then entered a battle of the bands at around 15 years old in Manhattan Beach, California. We were competing against this other band where Cameron Olsen was the lead singer, and I really liked what he was doing and asked if he wanted to play guitar in my band. Many iterations of the band later we met Christian who was playing drums in one of the bands that opened for us on a tour. We just got along so well and wanted him to play with us and thankfully, he agreed.
2. How would you describe your music?
This is always a really tough question… But I guess I usually say that we fall into an alt pop rock genre. We are taking lots of inspiration from bands ranging from the 80s to the 2000s. We mainly love to have a lot of fun with our music while also touching on heavier topics such as mental health and the struggles of simply growing up.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
We referenced lots of bands before such as Pixies, The Killers, many bands we grew up listening to in the mid 2000s. As a front man and singer, I take a lot of inspiration and look up to other front men like Brandon Flowers, Freddie Mercury to name a couple.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single?
When writing the song, we were talking about how annoying it can be after a break up when you feel like you can’t go to the same places or talk to the same people, simply because you shared so many experiences with one person. You almost feel like you got robbed part of who you are. So in this single, we wanted to touch on taking that part back.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
I’ve been told by a lot that people are shocked when they meet me in person because I’m very shy and socially anxious. I struggle in social situations but find my confidence on stage. I don’t know, just something I’ve been told haha.
