1. Please introduce yourself and give us he backstory on how the band got started.
We are Girl Tones. Being that we are sisters, we’ve been playing music with each other since childhood in many different genres, starting with classical. Once we both began exploring a more alternative style of music rather than the classical music we grew up playing, Girl Tones was formed. We have been Girl Tones for a while, but we have eternally existed.
2. How would you describe your music?
Somewhere in between pretty good and an unapologetic, distorted blast of fury that gives way to a visceral, unfiltered sound that commands attention.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
Beck, The Kills, Devo, Billy Childish, The Cars, and anything that makes noise.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single “Fade Away”?
At the time it was written, it was a specific relationship, now I see it through a different lens and relate to it quite differently. The repetitive melody, and the obsessive nature of the lyrics leads me to believe that I might’ve subconsciously written it about my struggles with OCD.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
Most people would not expect us to have been trained classically originally given the nature of the music we find ourselves creating now.
