ALTERNATIVE NEW MUSIC DISCOVERY
Djo “Basic Being Basic” (AWAL)
Listen & Download HERE.
Newburyport, MA’s Djo released his new single “Basic Being Basic” today. It’s the first single from his upcoming album, The Crux, due out April 4th.
With its Oberheim OB-X8 synths and falsetto refrain, its final verses shrewdly skewer the (often online) tropes of modern day posturing. “It’s kind of a shot fired to anyone who’s trying to be of the moment,” says Keery.
Djo, the stage name of actor/musician Joe Keery, played Steve Harrington in the Netflix series Stranger Things where his last single “End Of Beginning” became a massive viral hit in 2024 from the show. The breakthrough single for Djo was from his last album, Decide, in 2022. Look for Djo on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon next Tuesday, January 28th.
Djo just announced a US Headline tour beginning April 4th in Portland, OR with stops to play Coachella on April 11 and April 18. Find the tour dates HERE.
Good Neighbours “Ripple” (Capitol/Interscope)
Listen & Download HERE.
British duo Good Neighbours released their new single “Ripple” today.
Speaking on the track, the duo says: “Ripple was written about a close friend going through grief. They felt overwhelmed by the feeling and would sink into themselves. This song is about pulling your loved ones out of that deep place.”
The brand new single follows the band’s Top 10 debut single “Home” from their self-titled EP in 2024. Good Neighbours join Foster The People on tour beginning January 25th in Seattle through March 6th in Dallas. Find the tour dates HERE.
Shinedown “Three Six Five” (Atlantic)
Listen & Download HERE.
Jacksonville, FL’s Shinedown released “Three Six Five” today. It’s the band’s first new music since their seventh album, Planet Zero, in 2022.
Shinedown lead singer Brent Smith says, “‘Three Six Five’ is an example of the band’s ability to tackle the tough subjects through impeccable songwriting. Anyone who has ever experienced loss knows that every day we draw breath is an opportunity to live out loud – to live for thosewe have lost. At its core “Three Six Five” is a reminder to stop wasting time and focus on the moments we have right now and treasure time with the ones you love the most. The song honors the people in our lives who aren’t with us anymore. It reminds us to stop taking time for granted, because it’s not promised. Take chances, be bold, and don’t sweat the small stuff, because as the song says: a lot can happen in a year. “Even though I said all the things that mattered most, while I held on tight to the end of the rope, I could keep you close, but I couldn’t keep you here, a lot can happen in a year.”
Shinedown heads out on a big spring/summer headline Dance, Kid, Dance Tour with Bush, Beartooth, and Morgan Wade beginning April 25th in Des Moines. Find the tour dates HERE.
