Luke Spiller – The End Is Always The Same

Luke Spiller Announces Debut Solo Album

February 21st, 2025

Luke Spiller, the frontman of The Struts, has announced details of his forthcoming debut solo record, Love Will Probably Kill Me Before Cigarettes and Wine, set to arrive on April 25th via Big Machine Rock. The album announce arrives with the Brit rock frontman’s latest advance track, “The Ending Is Always The Same.”  Listen HERE. On January 31st, Spiller released the album’s title track.

The new single tells the story of an ill-fated love that feels like a vice. “It’s a classic scenario where you decide to break things off, but step into the murky waters of ‘let’s be friends,'” Spiller says. “Then, before you know it, you’re hooking up and getting back together and going through the cycle again.”

In 2019, Spiller found himself in a state of self-inquiry. After over a decade as of The Struts, Spiller started to wonder what it would be like to shift in his own direction. The dramatic, avant-garde music he’d grown up with and the unbridled, large songs he wanted to write didn’t seem like a fit for his current project. “It’s been a long time in the making,” he says.

Spiller began to dive deeper into his songwriting, turning his typical writing process on its head. Starting with only lyrics and a title, he crafted material written as poetry – self-expression in its purest form. The resulting songs became his forthcoming debut solo record from his experiences from when he moved to Los Angeles.
