1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how you got started.
I’m Ava Maybee and I’ve been singing for the majority of my life but I got started writing songs and putting them out in 2020. I was in my first year at NYU at their Clive Davis program and I immediately became a VERY little fish in a big pond so when we were sent home due to COVID, I started writing songs everyday and put out my first song shortly after that.
2. How would you describe your music?
I would describe my music as chaotic, playful, electric, and honest.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
My biggest influences on my music would be Porches, SZA, Tame Impala, Carole King, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Dominic Fike.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single, 'Call It What You Want'?
I had been trying to write Call It What You Want for a really long time about a friendship breakup I went through a couple years back but nothing ever clicked and it wasn’t right. I just had to wait for the song to come to me and that’s how Call It What You Want came to be.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
I think people would be surprised to know that I love, love, love to read!
