1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how the band got started.
Hi! This is Calvin, the lead singer and cellist of the project. We started wayyyy back in our Junior Year of High School just writing music to perform for our friends and family. We released our first EP the Summer before heading separate ways to college, and to our surprise, it blew up a little on streaming platforms. We dropped out of school after our Freshman year and just went for the dream. Since 2017, we’ve released 2 full length albums independently (Concentrate and What Could Be Better) and then 1 full length album with AWAL (Under the Shade of Green). We’ve been headlining around the states, Canada, and the EU/UK since 2017, with some notable performances at Lollapalooza Chicago and Corona Capital Mexico City in 2023.
2. How would you describe your music?
We pull a lot of influence from the indie and alternative rock of the aughts, but you can definitely hear a lot of 60’s and 70’s classic rock inspiration, too. We infuse a cello into all of our songs since that was my primary instrument growing up. I fell in love at an early age with the creation rock cover group 2CELLOS, and that’s what drove me to want to make my own power-chord driven rock music.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
I grew up listening to 99.9 The Hawk, a classic rock station in the NJ/NY area so that definitely influenced my sensibilities. I remember my first love was The Killers in their Hot Fuss era. That was a gateway into more British alternative like The Fratellis, Franz Ferdinand, and Arctic Monkeys.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single, 'Everything You Do'?
I had just moved to Brooklyn in the Winter of 2023 to live alone for the first time when I thought of “Everything You Do”. Despite being on a shoe-string budget, I found myself falling quickly for my girlfriend Kayla who unfortunately lived in Colorado. I knew I had to be rational, but I kept finding myself going to visit her and making time to spend with her. “Everything You Do” is the internal battle between being practical and following my own heart, and knowing me my heart always wins.
