David Byrne Announces New Album And World Tour
David Byrne announces a new album, Who Is the Sky?, will be released September 5th via Matador Records. It's his first new album since 2018’s award-winning American Utopia. The album was produced by the Grammy-winning Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus) and arranged by the members of New York-based chamber ensemble Ghost Train Orchestra. St. Vincent, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, The Smile drummer Tom Skinner and American Utopia percussionist Mauro Refosco make appearances on the new 12 song collection. Garett Michaels Exits 91X/San Diego To Become GM Of Non-Comm KSER/Everett, WA
KSER Foundation Non-Comm KSER/Everett, WA has named Garett Michaels as General Manager of the independent community radio station.Michaels, who starts later this month, was selected by the KSER Foundation Board Of Directors after a national search for a new leader. Michaels succeeds Tom Clendening, who retired in the spring after 13 years as KSER GM. Michaels for the past decade has served as Director Of Rock Programming for Local Media San Diego Alternative XETRA (91X) as well as KFBG 100.7 BIG FM, which recently was sold to Lotus. His last day at 91X is Sunday, June 15th hosting "Resurrection Sunday."
Wednesday Alternative Artist Discovery #Happens
Happy Wednesday! This week’s #HAPPENS Alternative Artist Discovery is Arrows in Action. The trio met at the University Of Gainesville and relocated to Nashville in 2021. The band admits to being pretty funny and says, “Cheekbones is about falling for someone you'd do absolutely anything for, even if it feels dangerous. Vampirism felt like the perfect analogy for this dynamic. Marty Whitney Returns To Mornings At 91X/San Diego On Monday, June 16
Local Media San Diego Alternative XTRA-FM (91X)/San Diego is bringing back Marty Whitney to host mornings from 6am-noon, beginning Monday, June 16th. Marty first started working at 91X in 2003 and returned for a second run in 2019. He was squeezed out of mornings when LMSD sold sister station KFBG “100.7 BIG FM” to Lotus on January 31st. Marty says, "I couldn’t be happier or satisfied to hold on to another small piece of such an important part of San Diego and our beloved FM Industry for a 3RD time! "
