1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how the band got started.
My name is Christo Bowman and I’ve been writing songs for as long as I can remember. Kindred spirits brought together by the cosmos, we started this band in high school and we never looked back.
2. How would you describe your music?
Being awake within the dream, losing your balance in the clouds, shooting for the stars and hitting the pavement, finding beauty in what’s painful and loving every moment as it is. Discovering the mysteries within oneself and revealing the world’s mystic truths.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
The moon, the ocean, the stars, the clouds, the trees, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Haruki Murakami, David Lynch… to name a few.
4. What was the inspiration behind your new single?
The idea for “Communicating” was sparked on a drive to the studio one morning. It had been a cold and rainy couple of weeks in February. Days away from leaving on a trip to Tokyo, I had been listening to a lot of Japanese City Pop in my car. That morning, the clouds had vanished and the sun was shining. I was driving through Hollywood, palm trees all around me; it struck me as a quintessentially Southern Californian moment. I wanted to write a song which captured the essence of what I was experiencing right then and there, as I was suddenly aware of being at the beginning of a new and important chapter in my life. My fiancé and I had just celebrated the 12 year anniversary of our first date, the day before, and we were now in the midst of planning our wedding. Lyrically, I was inspired to reflect and sift through my memories of our earliest times together, back when we couldn’t have possibly predicted what the future held in store for us.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
Many people would probably be surprised to learn that, back in high school, I once skipped class in order to take a bus to Hollywood and witness John Stamos unveiling his star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
