1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how the band got started.
I’m Lucia. We’re an LA band that started out playing covers about six years ago. We never would have imagined ending up where we are now, but now we’ve released our second album No Obligation and we can’t believe it!
2. How would you describe your music?
Our music definitely isn’t really one thing in particular. We like to try new things with different influences from punk, rock, indie, Latin, old, new, and so on. It’s more about the energy and keeping it fun and exciting for us.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
Some of my biggest influences are The Breeders, Sleater Kinney, Mannequin Pussy, The Beths, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single?
My inspiration was actually a book character, the main character of My Year of Rest and Relaxation. She’s not likable or perfect, and I just thought it was really poignant how we can see the worst parts of ourselves in these types of characters. I made the song a little more fun than the book though, to twist around the meaning.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
In our band, we all sing and we take turns with lead vocals, so my sister is the drummer as well as a singer. People might be surprised that me and my sister are actually two different singers. Our voices sound pretty similar but we write different types of songs, and it’s funny how people that have really tried to learn about the band often get me and my sister confused when it comes to our singing.
