1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how the band got started.
I’m Sean Van Vleet, also known as “Blame My Youth”. I’m originally from Chicago, IL, where I spent most of my early music career with a band called Empires. After touring with bands such as Death Cab For Cutie, Alkaline Trio, Deerhunter, etc., I moved to Los Angeles to focus on writing for others and it was during that time that I realized I missed playing shows and had more of my own story to tell. I began writing songs on my own and boom. “Blame My Youth” was born.
2.How would you describe your music?
Beer rock in a champagne glass.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
I’ve always been inspired by great songwriters, especially some of the greats from Chicago like Smashing Pumpkins and Chance The Rapper. I’m currently really inspired by Los Angeles based artist Jean Dawson and the art he’s putting out.
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single?
The inspiration behind “Prizefighter” stems from the battles in life we all face, and the huge difference it makes to have someone in your corner that’s there to support you.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
I enjoy playing the “odds” game. Haha, check out our socials to learn more.
