1. Please introduce yourself and give us the backstory on how you got started.
️I’m Dawson, lead singer in almost monday. In high school, Luke and I decided we wanted to start a band. But, it was just us and we were looking for anyone else who could play to join. One day, I went surfing and happened to meet Cole. We ended up back at his house and I found out he played guitar. We asked him to come jam and it instantly clicked. We started writing and playing anywhere we could in San Diego and ended up playing a makeshift show at an airplane hanger one night with a bunch of friends and someone from Hollywood Records happened to be there and the rest, as they say, is history.
2. How would you describe your music?
I remember someone saying to me a while back that our music feels like “you’re in a car packed full of your friends on a warm summer day, with the windows down, driving on the PCH.” I’ve always loved that description and I love that it came from someone else because it’s so hard to describe your own music.
3. Who are your biggest influences?
We’re influenced by The Strokes, Foster the People, Justice, Phoenix and I could go on!
4. What was the inspiration behind your current single?
We wanted something that people could dance to. My all-time favorite feeling in the world is playing a gig and watching the people in the audience, having fun, in their own world and really feeling the music.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
I have the worst car luck in the world – I’ve been hit by a car (while riding on a bike), had my car broken into (too many times to count), had my car stolen (more than once) and while on tour, my car was towed (without my knowledge) and it sat in the tow yard for over a month (and, you don’t even want to know how expensive that was.) On a lighter note, Luke makes amazing homemade cinnamon rolls and Cole’s Dad was a pro-surfer (and, honestly, if Cole hadn’t joined the band, he could have gone pro as well).
