My name is Avrey. I go by Honestav. Music has always been huge for me – one of my first memories of my stepmom is her telling me (when I was 4 years old), I’m “different” because I enjoy’d the lyrics to songs and what the lyrics meant. I have 4 older brothers and 3 of them all were in different bands, all guitar players and singers, and one of my brothers played the drums so I always knew I wanted to be like them when I got older. I started writing poems when I was like 8 years old and wrote my first song when I was 12. I started posting music at 17 on soundcloud and then at 23 (2021) I started posting my music on all streaming platforms.  

I would describe my music by saying it’s a good scratch for the brain. An orgasm for your ears maybe. It’s all of everything I’ve ever been influenced by packed into one song. Hip hop – punk – folk I think you can hear a lot of different influences in my music.

The inspiration behind I’d Rather Overdose comes from a lot of different areas. I’ve grown up around mostly, if not only, around bad relationships and people drowning in addiction. I watched my dad die from his addictions a month before I made that song.  But the song touches on my own humilities that I hate about myself and my own relationship problems as well – I didn’t intend for it to be a “get sober” anthem but I’m so so stoked that people took it for that and the impact it has had on our community is awesome. MOD SUN – I wanted a cool remix to the song – someone with a different take and so i asked the internet to do an open verse “challenge” (even tho there is no “winner”) and Mod had just added me on instagram so I sent him a message asking for his version and his voice on the song – he killed it. In 3 hours he released a video with his version and it touched so many people I had to follow thru with the song and making it public for everyone to hear. His “get sober” story is so strong and heroic. I’m so glad it’s reached as many people as it has. I’m soo stoked to be a part of that song, mannn.
