ALTERNATIVE NEW MUSIC DISCOVERY

The Struts “Can’t Stop Talking” (Big Machine Rock)

Listen & Download HERE.

British 4-piece The Struts released Can’t Stop Talking” today. It’s the LA-based band’s first new music since their fourth album, Pretty Vicious in 2023.

Lead singer Luke Spiller said, “I really wanted to try something that the band had never done before. It was very off the cuff, and everyone in the room was laughing a lot. Sometimes that’s a great sign. What’s the point in not enjoying the process? I think that’s why we can get away with a song that is beautifully bizarre. It’s because I actually mean the lyrics, even if they do come across light-hearted. Believe me. I lived through that character in the song many times.”

The Struts first erupted onto the scene with their Top 5 Alternative single, “Could’ve Been Me” in 2013. Following the release of their debut, 2016’s Everybody Wants, The Struts immediately became a must-see live band.

St. Vincent “Flea” (Virgin)

Listen & Download HERE.

Dallas’ St. Vincent released “Flea” on October 15th. It’s the follow up single to “Broken Man” from her seventh album, All Born Screaming, which was released on April 26, 2024.

It’s St. Vincent’s first self-produced record. In 2021, St. Vincent’s Daddy’s Home album won a Grammy Award for “Best Alternative Album.”

“Flea” features Dave Grohl on drums and Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass. Watch her performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! HERE. St. Vincent will be playing iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO on January 11, 2025.

Jonah Kagen “God Needs The Devil” (Arista)

Savannah, Georgia’s Jonah Kagen released “God Needs The Devil” on October 16th. The single has over 14M streams on Spotify since the song was originally released on May 3rd. Now based in Nashville, Jonah is crossing from Triple A to Alternative

Jonah says, “‘God Needs The Devil’ is a song about the human condition. It’s the persisting struggle to be good while having a dependence, or at least a false sense of dependence, on something evil. It means so much to me, and I hope you can find some piece of yourself in it.”

Jonah first released “Save My Soul” from his self-written and produced 6-song EP, The Roads released in December 2023.. Jonah played at the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2024.
